One thing I struggle with on this “healthy lifestyle” journey (even though I cringe at the term), is combatting my sweet tooth. Specifically chocolate. For periods of time I might be fine but then suddenly I get this urge, like a drug addict and rummage frantically through the house for any little bit of chocolate. Before you say anything, no fruit does not cure my sweet tooth but what does are protein bars. Protein bars are great when your on the go and don’t want to carry anything that takes up a lot of space, of leak in your bag or smell. It’s the perfect little pick me up, especially when your trying to lose weight.
However, if you look carefully at most protein bars the calories, sugar and fats can be really high so you have to be careful and watch out. There’s a brand called Fulfil bars that I absolutely adore (and no this is not an endorsement) that taste good, low sugar, fat and calories. There also Irish, so I have to represent 🙂
There are 8 flavours.
Personally the cookies and cream was terrible. It had a strong protein after taste and a gritty texture.
The white chocolate and chocolate Carmel and cookie dough are the best simply because they taste the best and they don’t have that gross protein aftertaste. They are also below 200 calories with less than 3 grams of sugar and just over 20 grams of protein.
When looking for protein bars make sure to check the nutritional information and don’t get anything more that 200 calories because its not worth.
